About

about me
I'm Sarah, a homeschooling mother of two and homeopathic practitioner. Previously, I worked for our nation's space agency as an aerospace engineer for ten years, but I became a stay-at-home mom at the end of 2009, shortly before the birth of my son.  My homeopathic education began in 2011, and as I learned more about homeopathy it became clear that becoming a homeopath was part of my life's mission.

These days, homeschooling and my homeopathic practice keep me fairly busy. I also enjoy writing articles for Real Food and Health Magazine and helping people find access to nutrient-dense foods through being a co-leader for the Las Cruces chapter of the Weston A. Price Foundation.

about parenting
My personal parenting style includes natural birth (home birth rocks!), babywearing, co-sleeping, extended breastfeeding, and taking responsibility for my children's health. My parenting articles cover a wide range of topics, from natural birth to feeding children to homeschooling to overall parenting philosophy.

about gardening
I've been gardening for about eight years.  My articles about gardening largely focus on the basics: what and when to plant, what plants are easiest to grow, and ways to preserve the harvest.

about my recipes
The recipes on this site focus on cooking with nutrient-dense foods.  These are nourishing, traditional foods, shown by the research of Weston A. Price to lead to wonderful health (virtually no cancer or heart disease) and perfect teeth (no braces needed and virtually no cavities). Price found that the nutrient content of traditional foods was much greater than in modern foods. My family has been eating a Weston A. Price inspired diet since 2005, and we noticed definite improvements in our health (such as less illness) when we changed our diets.

My recipes focus on:
  • plenty of animal fats (like butter and chicken fat) and other healthy fats (such as coconut oil)
  • humanely-raised beef and chicken
  • organic fruits and vegetables
  • raw dairy
  • unrefined sweeteners (such as sucanat, maple syrup, and honey).
Some members of my family don't eat many grains so many of my recipes are grain-free and suitable for GAPS and Primal diets.

Beginning in 2010, my family followed the GAPS Diet for over 18 months, with mixed results.  For more information about our GAPS journey, check out the following links:
